FAQ
The UCMAS mental arithmetic and abacus calculation system, utilizing an innovative computational system and employing the abacus, synchronizes the activity between the right and left hemispheres simultaneously, enhancing mental capacity and skills such as time management, focus, and problem-solving abilities. These skills play a fundamental role in the success of students in all fields and everyday life.
The UCMAS program is designed for students aged 6 to 13 who have the ability to read, write, and perform addition and subtraction operations with numbers 1 to 9.
The program consists of 13 terms for students aged 5 to 7 and 10 terms for students aged 8 to 13.
To enroll in classes, you should visit the educational centers section and contact the nearest executive manager in your area.
UCMAS competitions are held annually in three stages: provincial, national, and international. Students who succeed in each stage will qualify to participate in the next stage.
To delete the previous records of students from the APK, contact the executive manager of your province or region.
If you have obtained a license from the Ministry of Education (license for a scientific school), you should contact your representative or executive manager.
UCMAS stands for Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System.
UCMAS is a mental calculation program that originated in Malaysia in 1993.
In the UCMAS program, children learn to use fingers from both hands on the abacus, stimulating brain lobes through increased neural connections and creating a balance between them as a result.
The UCMAS program is based on a simple yet powerful ancient tool called the abacus, which provides children with manipulable counting beads to visualize numbers. Children learn to manipulate these beads to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
UCMAS helps improve learning abilities, writing skills, resilience, logic, and discovery. It also enhances focus and understanding, aids in imagination, and will boost a child's academic performance.
UCMAS goes far beyond the development of numerical skills. Using mathematics as a medium and abacus as a tool, this program will help in developing your child's fundamental cognitive skills and cognitive executive functions. Cognitive skills are the essential skills that your brain uses for thinking, reading, learning, remembering, reasoning, and paying attention.
It has been proven that one of the most effective methods for young learners to do mental calculations is through the use of abacus. Learning abacus not only helps with basic calculations such as addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division, but also aids in effective counting of decimals, negative numbers, and more.
The abacus helps in the development of children's brains. Abacus education involves teaching mathematics using a physical abacus. This method promotes the growth of the entire brain by activating both the left and right hemispheres. This leads to improved computational abilities and overall academic performance.
Students with UCMAS experience can perform certain calculations faster than an electronic calculator, but achieving that level requires extensive practice and expertise. For most people, the ease and simplicity of using a calculator and other devices outweigh the potential benefits of learning to perform calculations with an abacus.
The abacus is an excellent computational tool for exceptional students. In the article on the use of the abacus for students with visual impairments, you can obtain more useful information.
