what is an Abacus?

the abacus is an ancient calculation tool historically used for financial and computational tasks in businesses, shops, and markets. The use of the abacus in Iran dates back to the Achaemenid Empire, approximately 600 years befor christ.

Benefits of the Abacus

while the abacus is no longer used for solving business-related calculations due to modern computational tools, it is now employed in education to enhance childrens cognitive skills. Abecus training, especially for children, is part of the curriculum in many educational institutions worldwide.

In the following, we will examine some of the benefit of abacus training:

What is the UCMAS Abacus?

The UCMAS abacus is tailored for children aged 6 (pre-school) to 12 (fifth grade). It includes 10 to 12 terms, each lasting approximately four months. The full UCMAS program span around four years of continuous learning, even during summers, with terms condusted in summer, fall, and witer/spring session. however, noticeable results, such as improvements in speed, accuracy, and concentration, can be observed within just 2 to 3 terms (approximately one year).

How Does the UCMAS Abacus Differ from Others?

Given the emergence of varius mental calculation brands in recent years, it is worth noting the distinctive features of the UCMAS brand:

1. Official Approval: the UCMAS abacus is the only abacus program directly licensed by the Ministry of Education ensuring a structured and validated curriculum.
2. Advanced Curriculum: In the final year, children larn not just the four basic operations but also specialized computations like square roots, powers, percentages, and decimals.
3. Standardized Competitions: UCMAS organizes annual state, national, and international competitions.
4. International Certification: Graduates receive an internationally recognized certificate issued from Malaysia valid in over 80 countries.

UCMAS in Kermanshah

since 2016, the province of Kermanshah has hosted UCMAS program under the leadership of Ms. Maryam Azadian. The region has achieved numerous titles in various competitions , including world championship. The Creative Mind educational center serves as the UCMAS headquarters in Kermanshah, welcoming students each term according to the standard educational calender.
